Craftsmanship

I've been thinking a lot lately (and reading for that matter) about craft, and craftsmanship and then today I stumbled upon the most beutiful example of true craftsmanship in the form of ABK shoes. I came over all breathless and though I've composed myself a little now I am still finding it really difficult to find the words, alas and indeed alack.

Luckily for you I am together enough to present some images of their beautiful work

My gosh, aren't they exquisite?! Alya B. Kazakevich is one talented lady, now excuse me while I list my entire wardrobe on ebay so I can buy myself a pair. So spellbound... and I know some of you are thinking yikes they're just shoes, you'd be wrong! just so you know.

Submarine

Jordana Bevan is my hero! & I only realised Yasmin (who plays her) wasn't a proper Welshy when I spotted her as Petrova in Ballet Shoes. Which incidentally I love love love too. The wardrobe.. oh the wardrobe!

I love this movie so much, its makes me all kinds of nostalgic- not that I need much help or promting in this department!
I saw some photos of Dan yr Ogof showcaves pop up in my google reader today and wanted to go back so badly and admire the streaky bacon stalactites. SO GOOD!

I wan't to make some Blurb books so I'm going to ask Mom if I can borrow all our old pics for scanning- I wonder if we have any from the caves?

Summer Festival

Summer Festival

Cross your fingers it doesn't rain as today is the Summer festival! I made these posters last week and we posted them through a bazillion doors so hopefully it'll be busy. I just finished baking a batch of cakes to take with me too huraah

The Windmill

Last summer my Moms did a houseswap in the lovely Tunbridge wells. The house was beautiful and the sun shone the entire time, but one bad thing we never made it to a Windmill. So this year when she swapped with a family near Nottingham we finally made it to one!

I left with a memory card full of snaps and a bag of freshly milled Spelt flour. I can't wait to make pancakes!

Flour sacks wearing belts! So fashion forward

I have a yummy spelt pancake bank holiday brunch up my sleeve

Reason no.372 on why I love Abel & Cole

The loveliest little recipe cards land on my doorstep every Monday morning and this week I whipped up their Coleslaw and it was SO good! Spring onions instead of onions is such a good call, I'd never thought of it before for some reason nom nom nom!

I made the tomato soup recipe lastnight too for my lunch today so I'll let you know how that goes down. And you know if you feel like, get yourself a box and tell them it's all because of me and they'll send me a present to say thanks because they're nice like that!

p.s if you thought I was joking I really wasn't, our box comes in the other ones name so tell 'em it was Gavin James who recommended you. I don't mind him taking the credit... honest!

p.p.s I will finally get around to having a go at proper TTV images this week but for now these fakes will have to surfice! I got my faux template from here .

Summer of Stitching

I hate changing rooms, and am not so big on huge crowds so it seemed like a good plan to try and make my piddly student budget stretch a bit further and start making some clothes myself. I started simple as you can see! but really pleased with the stuff I've made. Nothing beats someone asking you where you got something and being able to tell them you made it!

I'm also much more at home behind the camera so decided to let the garden take care of the modelling. Hope you like them!

The first two and last are adapted from the lovely pattern which you can buy from Jen here (I also made the dress version in black cotton). Then the one in the third is from a pattern I drafted from another top.

Next I'm dreaming up Corduroy pinafores and lots of plaids, in Navy, Mustard and Burgundy. Am I the only one who is ready for Autumn?

DIY

DIY

Made myself a new duvet cover from two cheap flat white sheets (white covers are apparently like gold dust?) so I had to stitch one myself. Dip dyed it in the bath and now it looks like the sky, hurrah!

In the night Garden

Rounding off the party for both my own and Virginies Birthdays with amazing singing, exploding, blooming flower candles in my garden!
